Airport Authority anticipates nearly 27% increase in revenue

The Memphis-Shelby County Airport Authority’s board of commissioners voted Thursday, May 19, to approve the 2023 budget, including $143.8 million for operations and maintenance.

According to the airport authority, the new budget represents a return to traditional pre-pandemic budgets, reflecting recent passenger levels that are more than 90% of 2019 traffic.

“The MSCAA staff has overcome many challenges that resulted from the pandemic,” Michael Keeney, chairman of the airport authority’s board of commissioners, said in a prepared statement.

“While no organization is immune from the current effects of inflation, MSCAA continues to be financially sound,” Keeney said. “We continue to keep costs as low as possible for our airlines and tenants.”

The airport authority anticipates operating revenues will be up by 26.9% compared to 2021.
