There’s a version of pop that sounds like a mood board and a version that sounds like a mission statement. Demi Lowrell writes the second kind. The Memphis singer and songwriter has spent years building a sound around confidence and femininity, and now she’s about to carry that sound onto a regional stage.
Music Export Memphis selected Demi for its Ambassador Access cohort, sending her on tour through Huntsville, Nashville, and St Louis alongside a lineup of fellow Memphis artists. For Demi, the moment traces back further than the tour itself.
I knew it was a turning point when I didn’t want to do this as a hobby anymore. My family really pushed me to go further with it, and when people hear my music and they’re like this sounds good, it makes you feel good. That was my turning point.
Roots That Run Deep
Demi picked up music in kindergarten and came up through Memphis Children’s Choir, Stax Music Academy, and Heal the Hood Music College, the kind of foundation that shapes an artist long before a stage ever does.
I really wanna build a community and a fan base where everyone feels heard.
What Comes Next
The Ambassador Access program has pushed Demi’s development further, and she’s not slowing down. A new single called “Pop It” drops next month, and the tour is only the beginning.
Fierce, bold, Sasha Fierce. I’m really stepping out of my box.
