The University of Tennessee Health Science Center’s Memphis campus is in the middle of a major capital improvement push, with more than $600 million in projects completed, underway, or planned. Among the plans: a multi-use development at the corner of Madison and Pauline in the Medical District that would bring apartments, retail, and restaurants to the area.
“When we talk about transformational, that is transformational,” said Charles Snyder, Vice Chancellor for Student Success. “It will not just make a world of difference for our students, but it’s going to really make a difference for the whole state of Tennessee.” It’s one of several projects in the pipeline — and not even the largest.
School officials say the capital improvement program now totals $632 million across completed, active, and planned investments, part of a broader effort to reshape the Medical District and expand the campus’s footprint in Memphis.
