Memphis’ live entertainment scene is gearing up for major growth as construction begins on two new concert venues: Grind City Amp and Live Nation’s Satellite Music Hall. Both projects are slated to open in 2026, promising to bring more events, more energy, and more visitors to the city.

Grind City Amp

📍 76 Waterworks Ave.

Grind City Brewing—one of the anchors of Uptown’s ongoing redevelopment—is officially expanding its footprint with the launch of a permanent outdoor concert venue. The brewery, opened in 2020 by Bill and Hopper Seely, already draws crowds with its expansive 4.6-acre property, 10,000-square-foot taproom, beer garden, and outdoor stage overlooking Downtown Memphis.

Its new addition, Grind City Amp, will feature a 4,500-capacity general admission venue with both seated and standing options. During its first year, the team plans to host 8–12 major concerts and comedy shows, with room to expand offerings over time. The venue will also be available for private rentals, including corporate events, weddings, and outside promoter bookings.

Construction is well underway in partnership with longtime promoter Nick Barbian. Early work has focused on redeveloping an existing Quonset hut, which will serve as dressing rooms, production offices, and back-of-house space. Site improvements, drainage work, grading, utility updates, and preparations for stage footers and cement pads are set to accelerate through early November.

Grind City is also upgrading its brewery space with a new taproom deck and plans for an on-site container kitchen on the west side of the building.

The Grind City Amp is expected to open in April 2026, with first show announcements anticipated before the end of this year.

“If this goes right, this is going to be phase one of a bigger, long-term plan,” Barbian said. “The Seely family’s continued investment in Memphis—especially Uptown—makes this a very exciting time for us and for the city.”

Live Nation’s Satellite Music Hall

📍 1291 Autumn Ave.

Construction is also progressing on Satellite Music Hall, Live Nation’s new indoor venue planned for the Crosstown area. Announced in late 2024 and launched with a formal groundbreaking in February, the project officially entered construction in September.

When complete, the 35,000-square-foot venue will offer a 1,300-person capacity and is expected to host around 100 events annually—including concerts, comedy, community gatherings, corporate meetings, and more. Satellite Music Hall is projected to employ over 150 staff members.

Live Nation Southeast VP Ted Heinig emphasized the venue’s role in strengthening Memphis’ touring market.

“A cornerstone venue that brings in national touring acts changes everything,” Heinig said. “Once artists experience Memphis, they come back. For many, the right venue just didn’t exist before.”

Live Nation’s Global VP of Venue Development Communications, Stephanie Corzett, confirmed the project remains “on track” for a fall 2026 opening, with further updates to come.
