Rory McIlroy is heading back to TPC Southwind for the FedEx St. Jude Championship this August, ending a one year absence from Memphis’ biggest golf event. McIlroy sits at number two in the world rankings behind Scottie Scheffler and has a long history at this course, including a tie for third in 2023.

The tournament runs August 13 through 16 and opens the FedExCup playoffs, with the top 70 golfers in the standings making the trip to Memphis. McIlroy joins a field that already includes Scheffler, Tommy Fleetwood, Justin Thomas and Chris Gotterup, giving the week a stacked leaderboard from the start.

McIlroy’s Memphis results have been up and down over the years, from a missed cut in 2022 to a top five finish in past editions under different tournament names. Justin Rose won the event in 2025, and with McIlroy back in the field, Memphis gets a marquee name atop one of golf’s most unpredictable playoff stops.
