Memphis Veterans Services Secures $2.25 Million in Federal Funding

Memphis veterans are getting a major boost. Alpha Omega Veterans Services will receive $2.25 million in federal funding to continue its work housing and supporting veterans across the city.

Congressman Steve Cohen visited the organization on Friday to celebrate the award, which he helped secure after learning about its impact. Alpha Omega provides housing, addiction treatment, and support services for veterans in need, and nearly 40 percent of its staff came through the program themselves before returning to help others.

Cohen called the visit one of the most meaningful of his time in Congress and said he hopes to secure an additional $1 million for the organization down the road.

For a city that takes care of its own, the investment means more beds, more services, and more second chances for the Memphians who served.
