Memphis is celebrating another national title.
The University of Memphis Cheer team returned home from Orlando, Florida, after capturing a national championship at a major collegiate cheer and dance competition, marking a significant milestone for the program and the city.
Competing against top programs from across the country, Memphis claimed the Division IA Small Coed National Championship, finishing ahead of runner-up Purdue. The win represents the Tigers’ fourth national title in the last seven years, reinforcing Memphis Cheer’s place among the nation’s elite.
The championship also marked a major turnaround from last season, when the team finished fifth. That growth, driven by discipline, consistency, and teamwork, culminated in a standout performance on the national stage.
When the team arrived back in Memphis, they were greeted with celebration at Memphis International Airport, as family, friends, and supporters welcomed the champions home.
Team members credited the victory to resilience and unity throughout the season.
“Resiliency was the number one thing on my mind,” said team member Evan Dock. “We worked hard all year, day in and day out. When we got to finals, we faced adversity, but we stayed true to who we are and how we support one another.”
The national championship adds to the University of Memphis’ growing legacy of athletic excellence and highlights the talent, determination, and heart that continue to define Memphis on and off the mat.
