Memphians have never needed a list to tell them the food here is serious, but the rest of the country is catching on. U.S. News & World Report ranked Memphis No. 8 on its list of the Best Food Cities in the U.S., putting the 901 in the same top 10 as New Orleans, New York and Chicago.
The ranking points to two things Memphis has always done its own way: barbecue and wings. Dry rub ribs, pulled pork topped with slaw and barbecue spaghetti sit right alongside the neighborhood wing spots people will drive across town for.
