Gina Neely may be a familiar face on the Food Network, but she will now be coming to you live every weekday as the host of “Bluff City Life” on WMC-TV Action News 5.
“It’s almost like everything has totally come full circle for me,” Neely said. “I feel like it’s time to get home. I feel like I’ve always been an ambassador for Memphis. Now, I feel like I’m truly at home.”
She believes that “Bluff City Life” has the potential to be a national show because Memphis has “all the right ingredients” from arts and culture to fashion and lifestyle.
“I want it (“Bluff City Life”) to be representative of the city from all aspects,” she said. “I want it to be different layers of the city and not just a particular lane.”
Jonathan Mitchell, vice president and general manager for Action News 5, said Neely is the “perfect fit,” and their initial 30-minute meeting turned into more than three hours full of stories and laughter.
“Who she (Neely) is as a talent and her being such a prominent member of the community will help us when it comes to getting guests for the show,” Mitchell said. “She’s very creative and has a ton of ideas based on her experience. Not only will she be the host, but she will also be very involved in the production of the show.”
