The words are written at the Rock N’ Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland, “Memphis is the birthplace of rock and roll.”

In the 1920s, it was Memphis that lured blues musicians out of the Mississippi Delta and into the saloons of Beale Street. In the 50s, it was in Memphis where the sounds of B.B. King and Howlin’ Wolf collided first with Ike Turner and later with Carl Perkins, Jerry Lee Lewis and Elvis Presley to change American music forever.
