Professional tennis is making its return to Memphis this summer—and a new look at the tournament’s home court is building anticipation.
According to reporting from the Memphis Business Journal, the Memphis Classic, a new WTA 250 tournament set for July 25 through August 2, has unveiled renderings of its stadium at Leftwich Tennis Center.
The designs showcase a 2,000-seat stadium setup, complete with VIP suites, end-court suites, and premium viewing boxes—bringing an elevated spectator experience to one of the city’s top tennis facilities.
Originally renovated in 2023 through a $30 million investment, Leftwich Tennis Center was upgraded with 12 indoor and 24 outdoor courts as part of a broader effort to attract professional tennis back to Memphis. The facility is a joint venture between the City of Memphis, University of Memphis, and Tennis Memphis.
The Memphis Classic marks a new chapter for the sport locally, following the long-running Memphis Open, which brought professional tennis to the city for more than four decades before ending its run in 2017.
Operated by Topnotch Management, the tournament will feature a 32-player singles draw and offer WTA 250-level ranking points and prize money. Player announcements are expected in the weeks leading up to the event.
As Memphis continues to invest in sports and entertainment, the return of professional tennis signals renewed momentum—bringing global competition, local pride, and a fresh summer experience to the city.
