What inspired you to be a photographer?

While growing up, I was always fascinated by the still pictures as I see them in newspapers, fashion or travel magazines and on billboards. I was always intrigued to find out the process of creating them. I liked the way pictures can be used to freeze the moment and tell stories. This has inspired me to become a photographer.

What inspires you to capture Memphis and Memphians the way you do?

The beauty, culture and diversity of the people of Memphis!

How do you put your soul into your work? What do you hope others take away from it?

My passion is to create pictures that tell stories. I strive to achieve this by studying the people that I am photographing and the environment that they are in.

Share your favorite moment during the shoot that resulted in the picture we’re sharing

We took this picture on a busy day on Beale street. We had to take several takes to get the one perfect shot.

How has Memphis allowed you to come into your own as an artist? What advice do you have for other up-and-coming artists?

Whether it’s scenic park, busy streets or amazing architecture, Memphis has offered such lovely back-drops to tell stories in my pictures. Memphis has provided me all these different backdrops to achieve the vision that I want to accomplish in my photo sessions.
