“Young Rock,” — a comedic television series inspired by the life of former pro wrestler and actor Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson — will soon call Memphis home.
The NBC series premiered December 2021 and shooting for its third season will begin this fall. Johnson stars, along with Joseph Lee Anderson, Stacey Leilua, Ana Tuisila, Adrian Groulx, Bradley Constant, Uli Latukefu, Fasitua Amosa, John Tui and Matthew Willig.
“Young Rock” airs on NBC Tuesdays at 7 p.m. The upcoming third season is set to premiere Sunday, November 4.
The project will include local crew, suppliers and other vendors to support all phases of production, such as construction, catering, transportation and set decoration.
Linn Sitler, executive director of the Memphis & Shelby County Film and Television Commission, said the project will add to the lineup of other series productions the city has welcomed, which includes “Bluff City Law.”
“This is only the fourth network primetime scripted series ever to base here,” Sitler said. “A big thanks to Richard Ross, new Memphian and SVP of Production for Universal Television, for successfully directing the local team: Mayor Strickland, Mayor Harris, Sheriff Bonner, and The Memphis & Shelby County Film and Television Commission.”
