Memphis just welcomed a major new neighborâquietly, but powerfully.
Premium Guard Inc. (PGI), a leading manufacturer in the automotive aftermarket industry, officially relocated its headquarters from New York City to Memphis in late 2024. With a workforce of 250 to 300 Memphians and an impressive $500 million in annual revenue, PGI now ranks among the Top 100 largest private companies in the city.
Known for its high-quality automotive filters, PGI has been operating in Memphis for decades, primarily on the logistics side. The companyâs new headquarters at 4770 Hickory Hill Road now houses both its executive offices and distribution operations.
âWe see ourselves as part of the business community in Memphis, and we want to continue to grow in all directions,â said PGI CEO Anan Bishara. âThat includes expanding our business footprint and creating more job opportunities right here in the city.â
PGIâs filters and other auto parts can be found in major retailers, including Memphis-based AutoZone, and its reach spans dealerships and service centers across North America. The company holds about 30% market share in the U.S., Canada, and Mexico, making it one of the largest suppliers of automotive filters on the continent.
But filters are just the beginning. PGI also manufactures wiper blades, oil filter caps, power steering parts, automotive tools, and more. Altogether, the company employs more than 1,200 people globally and operates nearly 1.5 million square feet of distribution space across North America.
Memphis wasnât just a convenient moveâit was a strategic one. PGIâs proximity to key transportation infrastructure, including the BNSF Railway terminal in Southeast Memphis, makes it a prime hub for both import and distribution. That logistics advantage, combined with the cityâs long-standing relationship with PGI, helped seal the deal for its headquarters relocation.
âItâs not just about importing productsâitâs about Memphis being a powerful distribution hub to the entire country,â Bishara said. âThat provides significant value for us, and for our future.â
With PGI planting deeper roots in the 901, Memphis continues to shine as a magnet for growth, innovation, and opportunity.
