Few Memphis musicians are as prolific, talented, and musically knowledgeable as Graham Winchester, the co-owner of Blast Habit Records and the drummer for some of Memphis‘ finest bands. In a week absolutely packed with great live music options, we reached out to Graham to help us pinpoint his choice for a cant-miss show to recommend to our readers. Unsurprisingly, he looked towards this weekend’s Gonerfest for a bit of inspiration and chose the New Orleans duo Quintron and Miss Pussycat, who will be performing on Thursday evening at 8:45 at Railgarten on Gonerfest’s opening night.
Graham writes:
‘If I were gonna recommend a show in Memphis this weekend, I’d make sure to check out Quintron and Miss Pussycat at Gonerfest. Beyond the fact that they are dear friends and some of the coolest/kindest souls walking the planet, their music can truly take you to another time and space.
Quintron invented the Drum Buddy, a homemade drum machine that a special few musicians around the world have the privilege of owning. He’s also rigged up a beautiful, crunchy organ/electric piano combo with the grill of a classic car on the front; together these create a unique blend of tones that support well-crafted, hypnotic songs.
Miss P usually begins the ceremony of music with a handcrafted puppet show, then she sings alongside Quintron and shakes the maracas.

What’s amazing about Quintron and Miss Pussycat is both their albums and live shows are both a total dance party. The energy they bring to the stage translates on all the records. I see this group as often as I possibly can, and you should see them at Gonerfest this weekend!”
