Women are often told what they canât do, and that often pushes women to prove people wrong. At 22, Aisha Raison was told constantly what she couldnât do when she gave birth to her son. Whoever said that obviously didnât know what she was made of. This boss mom has been a DJ, a poet, a tour guide, and a filmmaker, just to start the list off. In many ways, the best way to deal with haters is to disprove them in every way possible.
Since her father gave her her first camera at the young age of three, the world has never looked the same. Her fascination with the world around her eventually led to becoming a poet for over 21 years. This long interest in the arts introduced her to her current passion: film making. Finding inspiration in the people around her, the process of putting faces, words, and places into one cohesive piece. Her talents have awarded her two IndieMemphis Grants so far, and we canât see her slowing down any time soon! Aishaâs films have been played all around the country, and even the world.
