Lo-Fi in Hi-Fi: Lil Noid’s “Paranoid Funk”
About This Event
Join us on Thursday, May 29th for the latest installment of Shangri-La Records' "Lo-Fi in Hi-Fi" series, a monthly conversation and listening party dedicated to a classic Memphis rap album.
This month, we'll be joined by local legends Lil Noid and Blackout as we discuss the seminal 1995 album "Paranoid Funk."
Seven songs is all Lil Noid and Blackout needed to cement Paranoid Funk’s status as one of the all-time greats of Memphis horrorcore. Recorded when Lil Noid was still a teenager, the album-- which rarely escaped the city limits during the time of its release--has since become a global fan favorite. Noid’s nasally flow and Blackout’s menacingly skeletal production were a match made in music heaven (or perhaps hell).
As always, this event is free and open to the public, but space is limited to please arrive a few minutes early to secure your seat! A livestream of the event will be available at https://www.youtube.com/@BSideMemphis.
