Memphis to Host 1st Annual FUBU Hip-Hop Awards

FUBU, in collaboration with Telecast Media Group and The Redwing Group, has announced the inaugural Hip Hop Awards & Festival Weekend in Memphis, scheduled for August 14–17, 2025. The four-day event will celebrate hip-hop culture and its contributions to music, fashion, film, business, and social justice.

J. Alexander Martin, co-founder of FUBU, emphasized the significance of hosting the event in Memphis, highlighting the city’s rich cultural history and its alignment with FUBU’s mission of representing hip-hop culture authentically. The awards ceremony will take place at the Cannon Center for the Performing Arts, with organizers estimating an economic impact of $30 to $50 million for the city.

Memphis Mayor Paul Young expressed enthusiasm for the partnership, noting that as America’s largest majority Black city, Memphis’ connection with FUBU feels natural. The event aims to honor trailblazers in music, media, fashion, and social justice, fostering new opportunities for growth and recognition.

Roberto “Rush” Evans, co-CEO of FUBU, stated that the awards will honor individuals in the business of hip-hop culture, including influencers, designers, and entrepreneurs who have built the commerce and culture thriving today. Mike Dockery, CEO of Telecast Media Group, reflected on his journey to bring national recognition to Memphis, viewing the partnership with FUBU as proof of what persistence can achieve.

Ron Redwing, CEO of The Redwing Group, added that hosting this event honors Memphis’ musical legacy while positioning the city as an entertainment destination for future growth. The FUBU Hip Hop Awards & Festival Weekend is set to become an annual tradition, uniting the community and elevating Memphis as a key player in urban entertainment.
