After earning a Billboard-charting hit with “F.N.F.” and inking a deal with Yo Gotti’s CMG label — Memphis rapper Gloria “GloRilla” Woods continues to earn accolades.
The latest: Being named “Breakthrough Hip Hop Artist” at the 2022 BET Hip Hop Awards.
Although it aired on television Tuesday, Oct. 4, the ceremony was taped Friday, Sept. 30, at Atlanta’s Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre.
Woods attended the ceremony. Shedding tears, she thanked God, her mother and Yo Gotti during her acceptance speech.
In the category, Woods beat out nominees that included rappers Baby Keem, Blxst, Fivio Foreign and Nardo Wick.
Her “F.N.F.” track with Memphis producer HitKidd was also nominated for “Song of the Year,” but Atlanta rapper Latto took home the award for her single “Big Energy.”
Woods also performed “F.N.F.” and her newest single “Tomorrow 2” during the show.
Earlier this week, “Tomorrow 2,” which features Cardi B., made it to No. 9 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
