“LUZ”: Amaro Dubois & David Cordoba

The Green Room at Crosstown Arts

About This Event

Violist Amaro Dubois and pianist David Cordoba perform music from Dubois’ new album Luz, featuring works by Florence Price, Villani-Cortes, Villa-Lobos, William Grant Still, Michael Tippet, José Elizondo, and Dimitri Cervo.

The mission of Luz is to highlight the beauty of Latin American music for viola and piano. “The extension of the viola repertoire and popularization of the Latin repertoire in the classical industry is indeed one of my goals with this album,” Dubois says. “Luz means light, and light is an essential part of our lives. However, this meaningful album comes to share passion, love, and peace. After all, light is what we are missing the most in this world of today.”

We need more Luz; we need more light.

For the performance at Crosstown Arts, Dubois will play compositions from his latest album, Luz, recorded for PARMA Recording & Navona Record in Boston. Among the composers will be two world premieres for viola and piano by José Elizondo and Dimitri Cervo.
