St. Jude Children’s Hospital does so much for children who suffer from unfortunate illnesses and diseases. These are brave children that go through more in their first years of life than many of us will ever experience at any point in ours. However, St. Jude can’t do it on their own. In order to provide assistance to these children and their families, they are always on the lookout for ways to raise money and awareness. That is exactly what the 2019 St. Jude Walk/Run in Memphis is designed to do. Whether you want to run, walk or sponsor someone who is partaking, the event is fast approaching as it takes place at the end of September.

About The Walk/Run

The 2019 St. Jude Walk/Run in Memphis takes place on September 28, 2019 and is presented by the First Tennessee Foundation. The goal of the event is to raise $960,000 for the St. Jude hospital.

If you have participated in the event before, the setup is the same. However, if you are new to it, the process is pretty easy. First, you’ll want to head over to the St. Jude website (link below) and register for either a walk or the 5K run.

Once you register for the event, you can form your own team or join another team. Once you have joined a team it is up to you to ask people if they would “sponsor” you in the race. Basically, this means you’ll go around and ask for donations. This can be any amount. The people will pledge to donate whatever they can (if they can) and this money will then go to St. Jude as a sponsorship for you partaking in the walk/run.

Cost and Categories

Perhaps you are new in the area and don’t know anyone. Or maybe your family and friends are unable to donate. That is okay. You can do it on your own. If you decide to do the walk the cost is $10, all of which goes to St. Jude. If you want to partake in the 5K run the cost is $20.

And don’t be frustrated if you’re unable to raise the funds. What you’re doing is amazing and every cent you can give goes toward helping families and children suffering from terrible diseases. And if you want to donate more you absolutely can.

Schedule and Location

The event is currently scheduled to take place on September 28. The current schedule will be updated the closer it comes to the date, so make sure to check out the St. Jude website for additional information (this will include where to park and other information).

The event begins at the St. Jude Campus at 501 St. Jude Place right here in Memphis.

And just in case you want to know how your money and your donations are improving the lives of children suffering from cancer, back in 1962 children diagnosed with cancer had just a 20 percent survival rate. That number is now up to 80 (and climbing).
