Back in the summer, we brought you an exclusive behind the scenes sneak peek of Chocolate Galaxy, the new film project from Parks David and its accompanying soundtrack. That was just a taste, and now it’s almost time to experience the real thing: Chocolate Galaxy premieres October 29 at The Galaxy Ball!
So what the heck is a Galaxy Ball? It’s an interactive space-themed costume party featuring a screening of Chocolate Galaxy and a performance by intergalactic superstar Slick James! Basically, it’s the perfect opportunity to dress your atmospheric best and step into another dimension for a night, all while enjoying the latest work of some of Memphis’ most creative minds. The event kicks off at 7 p.m., and screenings of the film will be at 8:30 and 10:30 p.m.!
This event is totally free to attend but space is limited so you do need to register to get on the list – do it now right here!
“Chocolate Galaxy is more than just a movie,” says Parks. “It reimagines the relationship between music and film. A couple of years ago, me and Peel (Ryan, co-creator/producer) wanted to make a movie that captured Memphis culture in a new fresh way. Set in the not-too-distant future, Chocolate Galaxy combines the undeniable funk of Purple Rain and the hilarious dramedy of the original Friday. CG is a fun journey that oozes Memphis. In the words of the soundtrack’s opening: ‘Ride with me, what’s your constellation? I got my own space station. Ride with me.’”
