5 Socially Distant Art Shows and Exhibits for the Holidays!

Although Covid-19 continues to change the way we live our lives living from quarantine, to social distancing, and the cancellation or closure of many of the events and celebrations we all cherish and enjoy, there are still a few opportunities out there to enjoy and support the arts, as well as remain safe during this period. Here are 5 of our favorite safe and socially responsible art shows and exhibitions to celebrate the Holiday Season! 

Winter Arts

Winter Arts is an incredible showcase of Holiday-themed Art and handmade gifts crafted by some of the most talented local artists and artisans around Memphis. These works of art are crafted from glass, wood, fiber, metal, and clay, and will bring joy and delight to anyone you wish to share them with, (and may give you an excuse to gift yourself something special this holiday season!). Also available are unique jewelry options, stunning photography, and much much more!

The Peace Project

The Peace Project seeks to create a healing space for Memphis through an installed soundscape. According to their mission statement, “Until 2017, Fourth Bluff Park in Memphis hosted a Confederate monument. After the removal of the statue’s last remnants, over 30 trees planted, and connective pathways were installed. The space transformed. Now, we welcome healing artists.” Visitors will hear messages of peace from artists, instruments, and ambient noises every three hours from 6 am to 6 pm. The Peace Project is a creation by Deep Water Media and hosted by Memphis River Parks.

Wonderland: An interactive Photo Experience

Wonderland: An Interactive Photo Experience, is a little bit different than the typical art show. This 45-minute Photography experience transforms you and your group into the art pieces, and You create the show!  The incredible experience gives you 15 different scenes for you to snap some photos with you and your family, skate on a bit of synthetic ice, and have a snowball fight with your group, all in front of the camera! Bring your own cell phone or camera to capture the memories!

Holiday Wonders at the Garden

Holiday Wonders at the Memphis Botanic Garden is one of the most enjoyed and anticipated yearly events at the MBG, and this year despite Covid-19, the event will bring you the same holiday-inspired majesty in the beautiful setting of the gardens. This year’s event will offer varying themes throughout the property! Get into the holiday spirit while enjoying beautiful light displays, chilly evenings, and the chance to enjoy a whimsical experience while still social distancing!

CRAFTS FAIR POP UP SHOP

The Pink Palace Museum and Memphis Modern Market present their yearly Crafts Fair with added safety, sanitation, and social distancing this year! Celebrate the Holiday Season by visiting the Crafts Fair Pop Up Shop! The event features 30 + local artist and brand contributions that include paintings, home decor, and other trinkets you can marvel at And take home with you!  Admission to Pop Up Shop is free. Tickets are required to view exhibits and Mansion.
